look there is a difference between individual crimes and communal crimes...okay let us stay with your argument and look at it from another angle, not of the perpetrator but of the victim. doesn't the victim deserve compensation? yes i might feel bad for being penalised for something i personally didn't do, but it is only "fair" that i "share" with the victim's descendents what i have. it is better than a tit-for-tat punishment where i may have give up the entire land that has been passed on to me through unlawful acquisition.
