Hi Shalu, My parents never used there cast names as our surnames and most of our property was abbrogated in the name of land reforms(they participated in the campain for land reforms), but they never complained but wehre ever I have been be it for a job in a public sector or admission to college or getting sanction for any govt scheme.. the first thing I was asked was my caste..If this is the way the govt want to do away with castism then I won't mind my kids flaunting their casts..At least the people they are interacting will knoe that whatever they have achived is based on their own ability and not achived by the alms given by the current casteist regime...
