The judgment is a landmark one, but with it begins a sad and unforunate chapter of our country. (1) From now on the premium is on backwardness. (2) Merit would be given a decent burial. (3) From now on we would be a nation of backwards. (4) Further social stratification on caste lines would occur. India from now on would be a country of castes and subcastes, minority and majority religions, the politically strong ones reaping all the benefits, pushing the rest into total neglect. An era of REVERSE DISCRIMINATION is ushered in.(5) The richer sections in the OBCs reap a double benefit. (6) The meritorious poor in the 'upper' castes, would have to silently groan, more so with the increasing addictive tendency of the political establishment to splurge huge amounts of public money on populistic sops, subsidies, concessions and incentives. (7) Minority religionists continue to be showered with all boons. (8) Where is space for the poor of the 'upper' castes? (9) Our idea of development and uplift is, to deliberately and cruelly pull down some to accommodate others, instead of giving a lift to the 'backward' without harming the prospects of others.
