Dividing India on caste line
by Pankaj Choudhury on Apr 11, 2008 01:38 AM

This judgement is nothing less than dividing our country on caste line. It is a shame on secularism. Does the suprem court or anybody else have the guts to divide muslims on backward, forward or anything else? Are all muslims equal? if not, then there must be bacward and forward or privileged and underprivileged. Can anyone dare utter the word of dividing them on that basis? When caste system are on the wane in our country and intercaste marriages are now pretty common phenomena, which was a strict no no a few decades back, chance is bright that hindus will get united in near future and it is daunting for the politicians. Thats why they are hell bent on dividing the society on caste line. If uplifting the underprivileged were the only motto, it could have been done in one thousand ways without using the caste. Suppression is a basic nature of all animals (including humans) and the stronger one tends to suppress the weaker one. How can this be eliminated by reservation. In the north east india, Biharis are being suppressed by assamese in assam, bengalis, assamese and other plain land peple are being suppressed by khasis in meghalaya, by nagas in nagaland, by mizos in mizoram and by manipuris in manipur and so on. Is there any reservation which can eliminate these problems? Even after this judgement, the reserved class will start suppressing the unreserved (and hence weaker). How can anyone stop this? So, it is nothing but a political gimmick in the election year. God help india
