4) There are lot of competitors for congress votes. JD(S), Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj party. While there is little competion for BJP votes. In coastral areas BJP gets vote from all Hindus whether Upper or lower castes. In other areas of Karnataka also it it will be getting votes from Lingayaths, Vokkaligas, Brahmins, OBCS as well as SCs/STs. 5) Congress is divided into 6 fractions. It lost in 1983, 1994, 2004 when Bangarappa fought separately.
