RE:truth behind Kashmir
by Manmohan Munshi on Apr 08, 2008 06:31 PM

Truth behind Kashmir is nothing but a bundkle of lies. Maharaja of Kashmir acceded to India on 26.10.47 and Ist Battalion of Indian troops under late Col.D.R.Rai landed at Srinagar at 9.15 AM on the morning of 27.10.47. and by 7rh Nov. about 5,000 tribal force led and supported by Pakistn Army was defeated at Shalteng and on the same day Indian Army occupied Baramula . I pay my humble homage to yhe officers and mrn of the Ist Sikh, Ist Para Kumanon and 4th Kaumaon and a troop of 7th Cavalry together with local civuilian drivers, informers and guides saved the day. The command of Army was never handed over to Shiek Abdullah or any other civilian.Though Sardae Patel arranged the merger of most of the princily states with India but in the begining he along with Teg Bahadur Sapru an exmember iof Viceroys council wanted Jammu & Kashmir to be left for Pakistan after shifting the non muslims from the state. The selay in sending Troops to kashmir was due to the fact that the ruler of the state did not acced till Pakistani forces almost entered the valley. The British Army officers and Lord Mountbatten created hurdles for sending military assistance to Kashmir. In this context minutes of defence Committe meetings and Mountabatten papers may be consulted
