With due respect to the man's determination, it has to be said that Gandhi has taught us to be well-behaved cowards...
Tolerance beyond a certain limit is cowardice...
One does not need a Gandhi to learn or imbibe values and tolerance; of course the world respects him... that does not take away the other side (or side effects) of his stubborness and cowardice...
It does not mean that one is jumping over the head if his perception does not match with the sympathisers of Gandhi...
