Karnataka has been named by the Tamil
by snpost on Apr 05, 2008 03:05 PM

Though several etymologies have been suggested for the name Karnataka, the generally accepted one is that Karnataka is derived from the Kannada words karu and n%u0101du, meaning elevated land. Karu nadu may also be read as Karu (black) and nadu (region), as a reference to the black cotton soil found in the Bayaluseeme region of Karnataka.

My question to Tamil/kanadigas- when did the two people sperate from each other?

I was told that Malayalam seperated from Tamil about 600 years ago? Any date when Kanada seperated from Tamil?
