Hindi is a creole language that originated some 600 years after various sanskrit dialects mingled with Turkish/Persian of the ruling muslim kings.

Tamil (and Kannada) are ancient languages. If Hindi is to be made the National language because 38% of the Indians speak it...them let us make street dog as our 'national animal' instead of Tiger....and crow as national bird....instead of peocock.
