Hogenakkal project
by tamilan on Apr 03, 2008 02:49 PM

There are two reasons cited by people those who are opposing the Hogenakkal drinking water project.

1. Hogenakkal is a disputed place so this project should not be implemented.

2. Cauvery water is also under dispute.

Let us see how far these two reasons are valid.

Hogenakkal is in Tamilnadu now govrned by state of Tamilnadu. The right to levy taxes and administration belong to Tamilnadu. The project site will be at the bank of Covery on Tamilnadu's side. I feel our kannadiga friends cannot say no to this. If we go for historical data so many places were with Tamilnadu but now in Andhra, Kerala or Karnataka. This is applicable to all the states. We cannot fight over those places to get them back. So this point of disputed site doesn't hold any valid justification.

The water we are going to utilise is from OUR ALLOTED SHARE. Even if it is not going to be used it will flow only through Tamilnadu. We never demanded additional release of water from Karnataka.
So readers please justify youself who is right and who is wrong.
