RE:Be an Indian
by Deepshikha Kulkarni on Apr 03, 2008 08:56 AM

but in beginning it was really difficult for me. not just because of language but because of attitude towards non tamilians. but i could find that people are really helpful and simple. they will really help you in all your aspects but will not include in their group. i remember when i came to chennai, i did not know any place in chennai. i used to aks the bus routes and exact location and i found people who litterally dropped me to the right placees many times. in beginning i was afraid taking anyone's help, as you knwo girl from UP and Delhi will be. but later i realizzed that girls are really safer there and i can believe them. but in offices whever i worked their was kind of alienation. people used to talk only in tamil, wnt include you in their discussion. i never mind because all like to talk mostly in their mothertongue, but whenever i used to ask them to please translate to me also, they used to say better you learn tamil. i did not had any problem in learning tamil. i tried to cath the language and after some time i was able to understand the language and even started talikng in toota foota. i know it was very difficult to mingle with them. you have to put your ego on backburner. but all people can't do like this. i had other friends from other parts of India who really put down the hands. it really took time to win their hearts. but still they used to maintain some distance. but i was lucky to get few friends who were totally opposite form the crowd and loved me lik
