Look at contrasting fortunes of Egypt and South Africa

Egypt was leader of Africa for many millenium.

After it became Islamized, its fortune started falling.

So much so, even South Africa, a country which endured savaged onslaught of racism for centuries, quickly recovered and now overtaken Egypt as leader of Africa!
