The rivers belong to nobody - neither to Kannadigas nor to Tamilians. The rivers belong to the nature and man is responsible for creating a problem out of it by populating the region with so much and there by burdening the rivers. I can not stop laughing (inspite of being a kannadiga) when somebody says "cauvery belongs to karanataka/tamil nadu"). People should learn to grow up and solve these problems in a non-partisan way - as if karnataka and tamil nadu were one state. I am afraid given the population in the region and the burgeoning cities like Bangalore and mysore in the cauvery basin, this problem will never be resolved. It is a pity that nobody in INdia sees the population explosion to be culpript for all such problems and that it is the first thing to be controlled if Indians were ever to find solutions resource problems
