It is a pity we did not have leades with the vision and acumen of the late Hegde in Karnataka or Kamaraj, Rajaji or Bhaktavatsalam of Tamil Nadu to handle this issue. I appeal to all my brethren from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka not to be swayed by emotions whipped up cheap politicians on either side of the fence. It is time we reminded ourselves that there are no winners in conflicts of this kind. We are one nation and we are not fighting a war against another nation. The war of words unleashed in these columns by informed and civilized readers make me sad. Is it for killing each other in free India we gained independence from the British? Is it not shameful that a national party that seems to have patent rights on patriotism should incite emotions of Kannadigas with electoral gains in mind. Please wake up and remember didvided, we fall!
