You donot require a religion to be kind the land has given you culture and rule of vedanta, which gives u one. These rules are taught to you by your parents u donot need andy religious books to understand the behaviour u need to maintain yourself beneficial for society, u need book to understand science and arts. Ture Hinduism-Vedanta is no relion its above that it culture, its rule of living and co-existence, art and science. A religion is one based on one holy book or has only one main prophet or preacher (generally in some religion like Islam and Jainism they are called the last one but actually the first one known to the outside world or whom people stated following probably they were like school of thoughgt out of which the last one became the most powerful to make the crowd follow them). Gautam Buddha was first one and Last one for Buddhism, Jesus the one one, Confeceus the only one, Sikhs have ten gurus luckily all of them are known and first one to last one were all powerful enough-Guru Nanak was founder. You have other small sect like OShoism, Sai-ism, Ram-ism, Krisna-ism/ Gita-ism, etc. The people follow the path of a powerful person or shown by a powerful person born on this earth- this is the definition of a religion- open your mind an achieve the real truth.
