it has become a fashion to abuse dr karunanidhi. every reformer received abuse from the elite sections in society. right from raja ram mohan roy to periyar,the intellectual strength of the reformers was able to defeat the section of society which never wanted changes. there was fierce opposition to allowing the entry of lower castes into temples. the rationalist movement of periyar,annadurai and karunanidhi saved hinduism from decline and allowed the lower castes to regain their place and pride. when this is pointed out ,some deceitful sections immediately point out to atrocities still prevalent. the idiocy inherent in that is obvious. they point out to the present flaws but blame the pioneers who initiated the fight.
