DMK is not about Periyar. DMK is like the George Orwell novel, Animal Farm. Stalin hated Lenin, and in his last days Lenin wrote about how he feared for his life. But after Lenin died, then Stalin put him on display in a cabinet to rally the people, to worship his body like an idol. DMK does the same thing with Periyar. DMK doesn't care a damn about Periyar or social development -- they just need a well-known name to attract the people. This is why Karunanidhi admires Stalin. He knows the success of the ugly Stalin tactics. He admires this role model.
