When Senapramukh Thackray saheb advocated for "benevolent dictatorship" he was ridiculed by the so called secularists. China is the telling example of today that lack of democracy need not be hinderance to prosperity and that the importance of democracy should not be overplayed as is done by politicians here during their electoral propaganda. Some time back A BBC journalist and a British by nationality and ethincity also entertained the same view and clearly placed the democracy in India below par with respect to the dictatorship in Chaina. Dalai Lama also accepted that the future of tibet was safer in China's surdom rather than in its freedom. It is naive to believe that in democracy power lies in hands of people and in dictatorship people are at great loss. In any rule the strings of governance ultimately go into the hands of those who know its business.
