Vivek, I respect your feelings towards our Motherland, but you have to accept that what is written by the writer is close to truth. Just like India, China too has two sides - urban (which is mostly described in this article) and rural (its still not as bad as India). What we Indians have to realise that we are very emotional and still remember the embarasment we suffered from China in 1962. In China you will be surprised many people dont even remember about it. They simply look at Western countries to benchmark and improve themselves. India does get respect mainly because of Buddism and our recent IT related leadership. I have lived in China for the past 2 years or so to tell all this. I personally feel democracy is for educated people and somehow our politicians are so corrupt, money minded and power centric that we are lagging behind in most areas. Hope lies with enterpreneurs like Narayan Murthy, Ratan Tata, Mahindras etc...
