Isn't that why people have Auto insurance? Fact is, India's legal system which is so archaic and obsolete, especially its Tort laws, makes it almost impossible for poor folks to file suits for compensatory dameges. Had this criminal who ran over these folks been just another nobody, he'd be rotting in jail, but the perpetrator of the crime is rich - a man of substance, cabable of not just coughing-up oodles of hafta, but a major contributor to the politcians war-chest
