Blood money under Shariah
by KKA on Sep 18, 2007 04:01 AM

Under Shariah, blood money is paid by the murderer to the victim's family. The amount of blood money depends on the victimes gender and his religion. For example, in Saudi Arabia, the prescribed blood money rates are as follows:

100,000 riyals if the victim is a Muslim man
50,000 riyals if a Muslim woman
50,000 riyals if a Christian man
25,000 riyals if a Christian woman
6,666 riyals if a Hindu man
3,333 riyals if a Hindu woman.
Further a Muslim cannot be given death penalty for the Murder of a non-Muslim acording to Shariah.
