Pragmatism/Faith
by Sameer Shisodia on Sep 15, 2007 03:37 PM

How many people revere the Sethu, and I mean before this whole episode ensued ? The Sethu served a purpose, and even if the one in question is indeed the one (which nobody seemed to care about before this), if its dredging solves a purpose, would not the Lord himself approve ?
When did we get so blind in our faith, especially when faith is just a false proxy for whats really a political frenzy whipped up around a non-issue. The whole "does Ram exist" drama was unnecessary and both sides have made a mockery of faith - Ram exists in people's minds and hearts and if a simple affidavit can change that, we need to worry about our own faith.
I'm a Hindu, and if the dredging's needed, its needed. I'd honestly be more concerned about any environmental impact of such activity and its consequence - the ecosystem there is probably unque and fragile. The ecology is as sacred and it impacts us way more.
As far as faith goes, mine is not dependent on others' call about it.
