ASI had hurriedly acted as Govt.'s chamcha. The Director Monuments must have thought that by this action of his perhaps he can grab the DG ASI's post which has been advertised. Actuslly for the past over a decade IAS officers are holding the post of DG ASI. These people are hardly aquainted with archaeology of history. They are just sycophants of the Govt. How can they be expected to justify their posts?
No body bothered to verify from Mr. K.M. Srivastava, former Director (Expeditions Abroad) ASI or Mr. SP Gupta, Secretary Indian Archaeological Society (both of whom are residing in Delhi itself) about their findings in Ayodhya in 1994 which could never be taken forward because of political reasons.
The Director (Monuments) at least is a product of the Indian Institute of Archaeology but he has also forgotten his training and is singing the tune of IAS and the Govt.
