It was a very stupid decision to file this affidavit. Matters of faith should not be subject to such senseless semantics. Even if the sethu is a natural formation, for Hindus who form over 80% of the Indian population, it is associated with Lord Ram. Rather than adopt a confrontationist approach, the government should try to find a via media by dredging the deepest parts of the straits, leaving much of the natoral formation undisturbed.
Whether the project itself is a good idea, is a different matter altogether!
