BJP is not strictly opposed to the deal. Read their latest stand - they want parliament to pass a law which will approve this agreement. I think that is a fair point. Earlier they were asking for a JPC. I do not see why an important issue like this cannot have a JPC.
Congress mismanaged the process. They should have kept BJP on their side just like BJP kept them in the loop while working on the Pakistan dialogues.
