Sitaram Yechury criticises UPA and yet praises it!
by Ramesh Kapoor on Sep 06, 2007 09:42 PM

Was he being politically correct, or trying to be hypocritical? It has to be either or but not both. There is no harm in a JPC to discuss or even hold a debate and vote to pass the agreement, just as has been done in the U.S. Congress. It is not a George Bush and Manmohan Singh agreement, it is binding on two nations, so why not throw it open for discussion. BJP has put forth its concern vis-a-vis India's interests in the matters of nuclear weaponary and tests. Does UPA or is it the Congress party that wants to bind the nation into another satellite country of another empire? For years, India had a quid pro quo with the Russians (Soviet Union) and yet professed non-alignment. If India is what it is supposed to be then let show transparency rather than try to bulldoze agreements with other states and bind the posterity to it. When will wisdom rule Indian politicians? The leftists are no friends of India nor is the Congress party have the nation's interests paramount. They are all interested in self-preservation.
