US-tilt, non-alignment and morality.
by M C on Sep 05, 2007 02:55 AM

For all intents and purposes (and for reasons justified or not), India was aligned with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. So much for non-alignment.

This is the same Soviet Union who was once headed by Stalin. So much for making a moral stand. On the other hand, the anti-Bush rhetoric fails to note that Bush's term ends in just about a year.

Its worth remembering that nations have no permanent friends or enemies -- just permanent interests. The US will do whats best for the US...India should do the same.

The debate should focus on whether India will benefit more from this arrangement (not just with the US but with a lot of technologically advanced nations) or get hurt by it. Does the status quo hurt us or help us?
