I agree fully with Ram.

I guess there should be debate on this treaty. When we talk about meeting targets for next 20-30 years then it is befitting that we had debate on this treaty. Though government can sign the treaty as per the constitution it is advisable for minority government to face the debate.

Debate can go on in parliament for let us say 7-8 days. But it very less time compared to what we see the far reaching implications of this treaty. Of late we have all the newspapers splashed with CPI and CPM view points all over but the main protagonist i.e. congress has not done good either to advance the cause of this treaty to masses. Some of the points raised by communists may be valid and we should debate/evaluate them. For example cost of nuclear energy, waste disposal, how much we can meet by nuclear energy etc. etc.

It would be nice if factual debate is organized and reasoning is held. All in this world are intelligent and unless equal or greater facts are not given to support the treaty I guess mass will go with communists. This is because they will be led to believe in these propaganda. This is not to undermine intellect of mass but there is saying that who shouts most is heard the most.

Where are those people who postulated this treaty? They should come forward and answer all queries raised by communists point by point. Unless that is done and is done nation wide I don't see the wider popularity of this treaty.
