These lies from Tehelka are enough for BJP to sue it. Gujarat riots were riots, not pogrom or genocide. Muslims were equally on the offensive not only in Godhra but even after Godhra. After 3rd March 2002 all the riots in Gujarat were started by Muslims. The Times of India inits article dated 18 March 2002 said that,"Riots hit all classes, people of all faith...and that 10,000 Hindus were thrown out of their homes by Muslims in Ahmedabad alone." UPA government gave figures of 790 Muslims and 313 Hindus killed in Gujarat on 11 May 2005 inside Parliament. See the English dailies of those days. Far from there being any pogrom in Gujarat, the police was slow to act against Muslim fanatics for fear of being called communal by the media. After three days, riots had stopped everywhere except Ahmedabad and Vadodara. One third of Gujarat i.e. saurashtra and Kutch saw no riots even in the first three days.Out of 18,600 villages 240 towns in Gujarat only 60 places saw riots. Police arrested as many as 25,204 people out of the total 25,486 accused. More than 60 people have been convicted for the post-Godhra riots including 20 Muslims in three cases for attacking Hindus.In Gujarat far worse riots took place in 1969 and 1985 under Congress rule when 10,000 each were killed. Army was called frantically to Ahmedbad by the CM as reported by all major English dailies on 28 feb and 1st March 2002. The Army staged a flag march in Ahmedabad on 1st March at 9 AM. So blame the Army instead of Modi.
