It is indeed unfortunate that the results of backing out could well be harsh. Whether the deal was good or bad is insignifcant now- because to add to that we have the woe of a miserable and unreliable political face that cannot be trusted with any major developmental agreements any more.
The trust is lost. The perference of isolation looms back as out face. What comes out is a choice of cowardice of fearing to deal with powerful nations. And this from the aspirations of a billion people to be powerful. How?
A nation can never grow isolated. Lefts politics of isolated foreign policy is a stink of Cold War plitics and has no relevance today. While we move aboutin Global economies they spin webs of 'imperialism'. Unbeleivable.
Another shocking revelation is that complex political acheivements are not understood and fail from popular support as rural masses do not comprehend the intricacies. I am no COng fan but indeed this deal was very well negotiated to have our cake and eat it. It would have put us on raod to prosperity. That the threats from US influence was possibel but not significant was well crafted in the agreements. That PMs' unprecedented transparency with this deal was not enough. POlitics in India needs to rise....
