Saying in our books is "swayamewa mrigendrata". I recently watched the movie - "seven years in Tibet" - Gosh how can this beautiful place with so peaceful people be destroyed. My heart goes out for them. We need to learn a lesson here - truth is, people will respect you only when you are strong. had out government then not gone ahead with nuclear test, we would not have been in a good position today(with respect to nuclear energy). Had Ashoka lost the war and then lamented about dead soilders, people would have laughed at him. That is a sad truth.
