Indo-US nuclear deal
by Pankaj Gupta on Oct 16, 2007 12:25 AM

Looking now it seems only Manmohan and his party is to be blamed for such a situation for the deal. It is very surprising that the Indian media is projecting it as a great loss and showing Manmoshan is right all the way. However, if you are running a coalition government and an agreement that has implications for future generations and too national importance, it would have been a statesman show by having the NDA/Left involved from the early stage itself. At that time Manmohan was busy functioning in secrecy as if he is the greatest leader of India and everyone would accept it plainly. However Mr Manmoshan please realise you are not a leader at all.. you are a puppet who has been installed albeit forcefully to be the PM of such a great nation. Therefore, had you gone with the consensus mode, it seems the deal could have seen the light of the day by now.
No offence to the COngress or PM, but then they are the ones to be blamed fo rsuch a situation. Remember it was Congress leader PVN Rao (whom Comgress considered a liability of late), had asked A B Vajpayee to represent India at Geneva. Such acts lead to automatic consensus as everyone feels 'involved' and not 'left' out.
