I totally agree with you. Infact,I have observed this. In Mumbai,when I travel in a local train,there is a group of Gujjus who often discuss about the stock market trading everyday. When they get down from the the train at Borivali station(Gujarati dominated suburb station on western Railway),people in the train abuse them on thei back and hold them responsible for Gujrat riots. they even call them as Gujarati 'Kasai'(Butchers) or 'Jallad'(Henchmen)...THis is the reputation the Gujjus have earned
