Had successive central govts not neglected Bengal and North-Eastern states, people of these states would neither have voted the communists nor have sided with separatists. Hard fact is that major development works in these states were done during much maligned British period only. After socalled independence Eastern & North-Eastern India were always discriminated against compared to North, West & South as far as central govt grants, investment, budget allocation, infrasturcture & partition refugee settlement are concerned. Unless all Indians irrespective of ethnicity, language, race are treated equally with respect, unless all regions of India are equally developed, problems will only escalate and internal frictions themselves will cause disintegration of this country where China, Pakistan or any other external forces can maximum work as catalysts. Indians have an attitude of marking all Bengalis and people of NE as worthless, inefficient kamchors. If that is true then how same people could prosper during British rule?? Some people are already feeling here that probably british rule was better for was than Indian rule.
