One does not wish to play the soothsayer, but for the betterment of Gujrat, I personally wish Modi would come back to power.
But this wish is only for the economic development of Gujrat. However, if Gujrat needs wholesome progress, then anybody else except Modi, I guess could do the trick.
I still wonder with what uprightness or is it sheer fear that normal Gujratis talk about the state whose custodians, so brazenly used state machinery to decimate its own people.
And that culpability has still not been owned up. All that talk of "Gujrati Swabhiman" sounds like a pack of glossed up crap, considering the role that the state played in crushing its own people. How can the BJP be any better than the Congress of 1984 who similarly manipulated the state machinery to look the other way, when the rampaging mobs killed and burnt scores of Sikhs in the lanes and byelanes of Delhi?
When BJP achieved power, we did think that probably we would get better governance, or at least it would give a serious enough jolt to the congress so that at least it would sit down and introspect its own working.
Most unfortunately, the BJP found it easier to go the Congress way. Now, since there is no fundamental difference the two, the Congress is laughing its way to the votebank. After all, it is the "pitamah" of the Congress brand of functioning, leaving the johny-come-lately BJP huffing in its wake.
