setu samudram
by NN Ojha on Dec 10, 2007 02:56 PM

Capt. Balakrishna's analysis of the futility of Sethusamudram project is excellent and beyond questioning. The protagonists of this absurd project owe an explanation to this country as to what precisely is their motive in pushing forward this useless white elephant. I see only two reasons. First, the greed for cuts out of the contracted cost of the project and second, which could be worse still, the furtherance of some third country's agenda which could be designed to harm our national security. The likely desiccation of our thorium reserves as a result of destruction of the existing ramsetu and the ease with which floating warmachines of Western countries could commute from the Arabian sea to the Bay of Bengal in the absence of this natural barrier definitely indicate to some diabolical game plan against our vital national interests by those who are eager to push the project which makes no 'nautical sense'. We must identify such treachorous elements, go to the root of their motives and bring them to justice for their anti-national activities. Nar Narayan Ojha
