1984 vs 2002
by A K Singh on Nov 29, 2007 05:49 PM

Communal forces invariably compare events of 2002 with those of 1984. The facts are these:
1. Riots of 1984 were basically secular in nature, in which, not a single Muslim was killed, although a few thousand Sikhs lost their lives.
2. Riots of 2002 were highly communal, in which nearly 800 Muslims, and only 250 odd Hindus were killed. The figures suggest that the Government of Gujrat actively aided the Hindu Goons. Had it not ben so, the number of Hindus killed would have been at least three times the number of Muslims killed. 2002 therefore was a genocide. QED.
