If their books or paintings offend you take them to court but threatening them or assaulting them or their places of residences is UNACCEPTABLE. Or at least should be unacceptable.
In case of Taslima, she brings up valid issues related to women's exploitation. Therefore, she should be listened to. Remember she has also taken potshots at those Hindus that oppress women. She is a true secular humanist that deserves state protection. Fanatics in Bangladesh have already issued fatwas against her. All secular Indians should join hands and protect Taslima's life. This doesn't mean that you agree with what she has written, but that YOU DRAW A LINE and act as civilized persons.
