For the first 40 years of our independance, the tax on wheat was 20% while the tax on rice was 40%. Was it a coincidence that North Indians were wheat eating people, while the south indians were rice eating people. For the same price, A north Indian could eat a lot more and spend the rest of the money on luxuries, while the poor southie had to struggle against the establishment. Has anyone ever questioned why??
