I feel this article provides a great insight into Achuthanandan's actions in Munnar, but having followed Kerala's politics for a long while, I feel the views are still one-sided. There are a few reasons why I cannot accept the action as perfect: 1. Instead of demolishing the buildings (like 5 star hotels), he could have acquired them and resold them back to private owners to ensure that precious GDP investment (and the brand) is not wasted. 2. The action could have been taken before the peak tourist season, when thousands of visitors to Munnar were left stranded after having booked their holidays with non refundable amounts. 3. The CM should have been fair and legitimate in the seizing procedure, and should not have shown discrimination against several properties based on personal or party's interests. 4. The CM should have kept in check the influence of his family during the process.
