There were many protectors of Hindu Dharam.EVER CARED TO READ ABOUT SHIVAJI????Don't interpret Indian history from your point of view only.That is very narrow minded and short sighted. Do not bask in glory.The Hindus outnumber all the religion in India.Even after nearly 900 years of Islamic rule,the islamic rulers could not convert us.And that is just not only because of sikhs.Only some Kashmiri Hindus approached Guru Tegh Bhadur and may be some Hindus from Punjab. Talk sense....Don't bask in unnecessary glory. Infact Gurkhas and sikhs were the limbs of British military rule in India,where as marathas fought the British.
