Reservation per se is regressive. Any selection (whether for education or for jobs) or promotion should be purely on the basis of merit. It is the Sixtieth year since Independence and we still are talking about "reservations"!!! The protections to SCs, STs, OBCs and other castes and communities has seen no improvement in the social strata of the country. Its time to think for alternatives to reservations. Its time for the government to think for having more schools and colleges for education and promote entrepreneurships for job creations.
These politicians have nothing to do with the upliftment of the downtrodden, leave alone the development of the country. Whatever development we see today is just because of the contribution of the private and the service sectors. Apart from the initial infrastructure developments undertaken by Jawaharlal Nehru, noone else subsequently did anything major for this country.
So, this talk of reservations for the poor among the upper castes is nothing but just another "vote bank" creation effort undertaken by these politicians.
