BJP had some really good leaders and after 6 years of BJP rule in the centre the minorites were also turning in favor of BJP. There was a serious debate in the minorites about supporting the BJP as a viable and better alternative to the Congress which has alwasy exploited the minorities. BJP would have got the support of the minorites but they handled the Gujarat situation so badly that it will take another 20 years before the minorities can think about voting for BJP. Its same like what happened in Punjab in 1984...People did not vote for congress for years...This is politics and BJP is better off being neutral than being saffron colored party.
