Give up casteism
by Aryaputra on Mar 29, 2007 05:12 AM

The word brahmin does not denote a caste but is derived from the word "Brahman" which means the supreme soul. The scriptures which tried to understand Brahman were the Brahmanas which were more of commentaries on vedas.
The people who dedicated their lives to the study came to be known as brahmins.
So any one can be a brahmin. It was never a caste.
