I dont know why people have this misgiving that communists are pro poor ! Their vested interest lies in the fact that more the poor, the better - because the moment everyone is prosperous and satisfied, they would lose their constituency. Why should they do this harakiri ? So while they would hoodwink the people by crying hoarse for them, they would do everything to ensure that their plight never improves. West Bengal's economic situation is a case in point.
