India imported hweat from Australia in the previous year. There was shortage. Also, when the Reliance and others start exporting the produce of farmers(through their initiatives that are into retail) because they get more income that way than selling it in India, then India will see food shortage. It's the same reason why there were famines in Bengal in 1930's which killed millions.
