The ruling party CPM has used cadres and police together to root out the opposition to grabbing poor people's land forcibly and selling it off to the Tatas. The people of WB are not against the industrialization, but the way it is being carried out by the Govt and at the cost of the farmers. The only parallel to what Govt of WB is doing in Nandigram is Nazi-operations during Hitler's regime in Germany. This call for strike has a real good reason and the people of WB would sponteneously support it.
