RE:Mumbai Rains - What are the solutions?
by R on Jul 01, 2007 12:45 PM

yes most things u suggest are necessary but lets consider REALITY and what the govt is really up to
central govt and environment ministry is considering scrapping CRZ RULES this after pressure from builder lobby throwing (2)in the bin...
40% of population in mumbai is from up and bihar and 60% live in slums....
the high court has given sanction to them
they are eligible to vote
their votes count not middle class who pay taxes and spend 3 hrs commuting everyday and who are outnumbered 1:5 by hutment dwellers
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
mutp plan that had promised new coaches to mumbai suburban has not yet done anything 2 experimental coaches run during off peak times
the central govt spends/subsidises 31000 per person for people using delhi metro percapita income in india is 26500 appx, calcutta metro also has same problems 10% travellers.
mumbai has super dense load or has got a world record overcapacity
best has strike 1ce every year
PLASTIC BAN has never worked as people really dont care and this is a education and ethics problem
