Ramayana is the story of Sri Rama, the king of Ayodhya, historical man. Mahabharatha is the story of Sri Krishna, the prince of Madhura, another historical figure. Bhagavath Gita is compiled of eighteen chapters just selected from Mahabharatha. These are not the religious scriptures. The official religious books of Hinduism are the Vedas. The written four Vedas; the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and the Adharva Veda.
