Special Economic Zones (SEZ)
by Kumarendra Mallick on Jun 15, 2007 08:05 PM

The Special Economic Zones (SEZ), it appears to me, may beright or may be wrong, are curses on the poor people of this country. History repeats itself. We recall that East India Company captured India inch by inch. The case is reverse now. Our authorities are surrendering fertile and strategic lands to wealthy buyers, behind which there is some foreign hand. For example, on the east coast between Puri and Konark Vedika has acquired 8,000 to 10,000 acres of land. Vedika is the mascot of a British-owned Sterolite Co. which does not enjoy good reputation. Why so much land and for what ?? The strategic coastal patch will be lost for ever, perhaps from the control of our Coast Guard, too !! People of India can not enjoy the serene and soulful atmosphere that exist on the silver beach between Puri and Konark. god can save us from our own demons.
